Mike Dehnert – Echo8 (Clone Basement Series)

Here’s what’s been on repeat here all morning: Mike Dehnert‘s heavy jackin’ fourth contribution to Clone ’s Basement Series. It’s crazy good.

On his first record of 2016 Mike Dehnert serves up four smokin’ hot techno tracks with a bouncy house attitude, stripping away the doom and gloom that’s dominating techno right now and replacing it with bangin’ Chicago percussion and pure excitement.

Title track ‘Echo8’ sets the tone with its staccato jack track beats and energetic tube melody motif, but things really get going with the bottom-heavy ‘Wokabeat’, that pushes forward relentlessly with its Phuture-esque vocal snippet and relentlessly shifting percussion patterns. The pressure is pumped up to the max on ‘Meckwiki’ before this EP goes out with a Chicago bang courtesy of ‘Say How’. Man, we love this.

‘Echo8’ is out on February 9 on Clone. Get it here.
