Ostgut Ton’s infamous Berghain mix series is set to return in May with volume 7, mixed by Berghain resident Function. The full tracklist of the free digital compilation is yet to be revealed, but the two accompanying EPs feature tracks by Steve Bicknell, DVS1, Blue Hour, Cassegrain & Tin Man, Post Scriptum and L.B. Dub Corp (Luke Slater).
Function (real name Dave Sumner) debuted at Berghain in 2008 and went on to become a monthly resident at the legendary Berlin club. Now an artist on both Ostgut’s label and booking agency since the release of 2013’s ‘Incubation’ album, he’s returned to conventional DJing after years of working exclusively with a digital DJ/Live hybrid set up.
According to Ostgut Ton Function’s residency at the club had a ‘significant influence on the overall sound of the Berghain 07 mix’, as well as ‘his use of the currently unreleased Rane MP2015 Rotary Mixer’. Ostgut Ton: ‘Meticulously curated by Function, these exclusive tracks serve as a display of the new material used in his current DJ sets as well as hinting towards the future development of his Infrastructure New York imprint, where more exclusives will be released.’
Earlier this month Berghain also announced the release of a special tenth anniversary book in May.
