Leigh D Oliver – Through Muck and Mud (Sordid)

[separator type=”thin”]

On his first real EP of the year Yorkshire native Leigh D Oliver serves up two steady New York-inspired house bangers, complemented by a strong Nick Beringer remix.

We love the sound of Leigh D Oliver on his new EP ‘Through Muck and Mud’. It’s nothing we haven’t heard before – in fact it sounds like something that could have been released on the legendary Strictly Rhythm imprint around 1993 (OK, sans the growling UK bassline), but of course that is actually a good thing.

The title track is a proper house joint with a nice driving beat, sizzling hihats and the occasional diva sample. A sturdy and groovy track that’s given a slighly more contemporary techhouse feel by Nick Beringer. ‘ Sex, Lies and Bullshit’  sounds pretty vintage too, with its New York-style shuffling beats and cut up sax samples. Quality house music.

‘ Through Muck and Mud’  is out now on Sordid.
