American born DJ Fred P is about to drop an album consisting of various artists’ bringing any house lover to their knees. To be released on his very own label, Boards, the album titled ‘Selected: Compiled by Fred P’ is a chilled, relaxing progression of jazz inspired sounds. Thus the alias Black Jazz Consortium.
The collection is only the beginning to what is to become an on-going compilation series for the new label and nobody is complaining, keep them coming! ‘Selected’ consists of 8 tracks featuring artists many may not have heard off. The last track being Fred P’s ‘N.Y. (Selected Dub)’ is a smooth and mellow sounding track complimented with a tropical atmosphere consistent with the album.
In his own words Fred describes his thought process and the decision to release this album: “In the early days it was difficult to afford more than one or two records. I would buy compilations because the value was greater and I was exposed to artist that I might not have known about otherwise. When I think of compilations I think of ‘Mix the vibe’, ‘Soul of science’, ‘Trust the DJ’ and of course ‘DJ kicks’. I learned a great deal from these series over the years and developed my own ideas based on what I love to hear thus Selected was born.”
‘Selected’ will be released on the 28th of January 2014.
